Have you ever thought to yourself something like “what’s wrong with me?” Or maybe, “why did God make me like this?” The truth of the matter is… you are not an accident. God made you on purpose, with a purpose. You are beautiful. You are fearfully and wonderfully made.
Genesis 1:27 says:
“So God Created mankind in his own image,
Genesis 1:27
In the image of God he created them;
Male and female he created them.”
To further that, in one of my favorite Psalms, Psalm 139:13-16, it says:
“For you created my inmost being;
Psalm 139:13-16
You knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you
When I was made in the secret place,
When I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed body;
All the days ordained for me were written in your book
Before one of them came to be.”
I want to reiterate what I said in the opening paragraph…
You are beautiful. You are fearfully and wonderfully made.
For a long time in my life, I didn’t really believe it. I always questioned myself and my body.
During my teen years, I was always trying to “not be fat” and I was always envious of the girls who could eat whatever they wanted.
Then, in my 20’s, I met my husband. Sure, he told me I was beautiful and that I was sexy, but I couldn’t believe it for myself. I still struggled with my body image.
Why did God have to make me broad-shouldered and big-boned like my dad? Why couldn’t I be small and petite like my mom?
Now, in my 30’s, I had my first child a few years ago and gained a whopping 85lbs during my pregnancy. I still remember the week after giving birth…
I was so thankful for my daughter and I loved her so much, and yet I still was having so much anxiety and negative thoughts about my body. I remember trying to fit into a pair of jeans that I used to wear before being pregnant and I couldn’t even get them past my knees.
I literally broke down crying on my bed.
But, in retrospect, sometimes the hardest things in life are what lead to the best things… That was the breaking point that started my mom (Ruth) and I on this amazing journey of starting the Weigh Down Lifestyle.
Nothing Is By Accident. You Are Not An Accident
It wasn’t easy, and it wasn’t quick, but I was able to lose the 85lbs plus a little bit more over the next 18 months. More importantly, I was able to finally find the freedom in God’s promise that I am not an accident. I am beautiful. I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

Part of my weight loss journey wasn’t just about eating healthy and wholesome food, but it was about renewing my mind and finding what we like to call “Food Freedom.”
It really stems from the two passages of scripture that I quoted at the top of this post… Genesis 1:27 and Psalm 139:13-16. Let’s go through them a bit and explore what God says.
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
You are not an accident.
God literally created you. He formed every cell in your body. I watched a video the other day that said it really well – God wrote your DNA specifically and uniquely for you! Isn’t that amazing?
We are God’s handiwork, specifically crafted for a purpose. The Psalm continues on, saying that “all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”
Not only did God craft you and make you 100% unique, but he did so with a purpose. You have a calling in your life… you are ordained by God, and that is a promise that you can BELIEVE!
You are not an accident.
Lastly, He knows you. The Psalmist says, “my frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body;”
God knew you before your life even began, and He still knows you today. Even with all of your flaws (yes! We all have them), God loves you and wants a relationship with you.
You are not an accident.
So, the next time you look at yourself in the mirror and think “why?” or “I wish I was more like….” – stop and remember the promise that God gives us. He created us in His own image. You are His Masterpiece. You are beautiful. You are fearfully and wonderfully made.
You are not an accident.

What a beautiful reminder that we definitely are NOT accidents! God created us in HIS image and so we are beautifully and perfectly made!
Thank you Shirley!
Thank you Kaycee for all you do for encouraging us ! You and your mom are so amazing! Happy Birthday hope you have a Special Day!
Great encouragement Kayce. Happy birthday.
Thank you, Myrna!
Happy birthday, Kayce 🎁
Thanks so much and Happy Birthday Beautiful!
Thanks Kathy!
Kayce, I enjoyed reading that so much. I’ve always had a problem with self image. I use to take diet pills, lots of laxatives, even that stuff you use to have to buy in a bottle at the drug store to drink before you had surgery to clean you out. I bought alot of it. It would make me so sick. I was down to about 105lbs. Which is too small for me. I struggled so to try and stay small. I always gained it back and more all the time. Now I need to loose about 35 to 40 lbs I know I can do it. I’m going through so much and all I do is eat and eat some more. I’m excited about the workshop. I really appreciate you and your mom. God bless you both. Patricia McCullough
Thank you for sharing, Patricia!
Beautifully said.
Thanks, Marchelle!
Thank you Kayce, this was very beautiful and really brightened my day. I will read this often as it is very encouraging. Happy birthday warm wishes to you.
Thank you, Ang!
Thank you so much for the encouraging words. Everyone needs to be told or reminded that they are special and not an accident. That everyone is unique and special. That everyone has a place at the table. We forget that sometimes especially when people take us for granted over time. Thank you ❤
Thank you, Judy!
Thank you Kayce for the reminder that we are not an accident, and that we are fearfully and wonderfully made!❤️❤️
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Hope you had a great day!

Thank you Dottie!
Thank you! I sometimes need a reminder that I have a purpose. It’s easy to get lost living life and not realize what an impact you make in the world.
Thank you Missy!
Thank you for the reminder.. that we were made special with his specific job for us in mind. I have struggled my whole life with how I see myself and feeling inadequate. And I needed this reminder
I’m so glad this reminded you how beautiful you are Melissa!
Happy birthday, Kayce!!! Thanks for the beautiful post.
Thank you ,Kayce was a great reminder that we are not an accident .Ive always disliked the way I look ,Ive use diet pills and many different plans to loose weight but this one has been a life saver. We are all made the way God had planned but its up to us to take care of our Temple and not let it be filled with things that destroy or make us sickly, Its starts in the mind and dedication God will take care of us but we have a part in the plan also,, thanks again love you and your Mom and love this lifestyle
To hear those words “You are not an accident” and “God created you in His own image” are healing. To hear the stories of others who struggle with food and not feeling sufficient helps. Comfort comes knowing we are not alone and someone cares. Thank you!
Thanks for sharing, Donna!
It is amazing to think about the awesomeness of God in creating so many people who are uniquely themselves. Even my identical nieces are different.
What a great God we serve.
Amen Heidi!
How wonderful to share God’s word to show how we are all created for a purpose. That we were created in His image, and that He’s known us from before we were formed in our mother’s womb!
An amazing God we can learn more and more about through His word. I know from all you two have shared that He is doing a good work through you both with this program. And with His guidance you will reach so many women to share and strengthen them to also find food freedom with God in the journey! Thank you for this message Kayce, and May God richly bless you and your mom for sharing His love and direction in this amazing journey you are guiding so many of us on!!
Thank you, Margie!
What a beautiful reminder. I have three daughters of my own and three little Foster daughters and this is something that is so important for them to learn. They were not an accident. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for sharing as well, Amanda!
Thank you Kayce for sharing this message of God’s truth. These are verses I can now claim thanks to you and your mom and the Weigh Down Lifestyle program and community. Happy Birthday!!
That’s awesome, Marcia! Thank you 🙂
Beautifully written.
Thank you, Jessica!
You are one amazing woman Kaycee, and I’ve learned so much from you despite your youth. Thank you for these wise, hope filled, words of truth. Your work is greatly appreciated, and I always look forward to your next post.
Thank you for baring your soul. I really appreciate your truth. Thank you for being vulnerable, and creating a safe place for women struggling through the same thing. I am definitely one of them, and love that there is something to relate to, not perfection. Happy Birthday!!!
Thank you, Grace! One of our sayings is “Progress Over Perfection!”
Kayce, I just saw your email today as it went into my junk folder. I loved this blog and I always need these reminders of how God created us all for a purpose. I struggle with my purpose every single day. To see myself as beautiful is also a challenge. Thank you for the reminder of how God made us all in His image.
Thank you. Sometimes I don't see myself as beautiful or wonderfully made.
This is so beautiful said. I needed to hear it. I want more of that.
Can you add me to your list please
Thank you 🙏
Great article Kayce! Keep up the good work! All the best to you and your mom!
Thank you! I needed this message today
You are so beautiful Kayce. Thanks for your wonderful words of inspiration. I had a similar pregnancy with a great weight gain that I actually started doing sit-ups after the birth of my son. I had many stitches but I didn’t like the fact that I still looked pregnant. Yes we are beautifully made in God’s image. Thank you for the reminder
