Hello there friends! Today we want to talk about being persistent and having consistency in your life. It doesn’t matter what you’re doing. It doesn’t matter if you have your relationship goals or your business goals or your weight loss goals. It doesn’t matter what you’re thinking about – persistence and consistency are so important in order to reach those targets.
We recently have been talking with some of our members about consistency in the Weigh Down Lifestyle community and in particular, how consistency is the biggest key to success when it comes to losing weight and keeping it off. Because, what usually happens, and I’m sure if you’re reading this and you’ve been on diets in the past that have worked for you, you can relate to this – you started a diet but then you’re not consistent right? You’re consistent for the short-term so you lose some weight but then you stop living like that… you stop being consistent and you go back to all of your old habits and then the weight comes back on. That was me and the reality is that diets are like a short-term fix and as soon as we go off the plan, the weight just comes back and it gets so discouraging. It’s like we have this helpless feeling of “why doesn’t it stay off.”
Think about the reason that you gained weight in the first place. Everybody has different reasons why they’ve gained weight. For some people it’s stress, for some people it’s medication… some people it’s hormones and the time of life and for some, it’s covid. Everybody has different reasons for why we’ve gained weight. A lot of it has to do with emotional eating and so if you’re consistent with emotional eating and eating poorly, then the weight keeps coming on.
Consistency works both ways so this is a choice that you have to make. If you want to achieve your goals and start heading in the right direction, then you need to start being consistent and align your goals with healthy habits and practices.
Why do you want to lose weight? Do you want to lose weight more than you want to stay comfortable? This is what consistency and persistence are all about… you have to make a choice and choose to be consistent and persistent, while aligning your values with what your goals are.

Diets are like a short-term fix and as soon as you go off your diet, the statistics say that you actually gain weight for every diet you try. Isn’t that mind-boggling? Statistically, you actually gain weight for every diet you try. So, while you are trying to lose weight and become healthier, diets are actually setting you up to fail. It’s so hard to be consistent and persistent when diets are not designed to be sustainable.
