Do you ever feel like you are being tossed about by the waves of the sea or the storms of life? Are you in need of some encouragement for today?

I know I do, and I’m sure you do as well, as life throws us many different curveballs and circumstances throughout our journey called life.

Maybe it’s Covid, anxiety creeping up into your thoughts worrying about a loved one. Maybe it’s a move to another city or even another house that is stressing you out. We get comfortable in our neighborhood, but suddenly life throws us a twist and we find ourselves in a situation where we need to move.

Maybe it’s financial stressors, or maybe our children need us like never before, or maybe it’s for a totally different reason. But… we soon realize that we are in a state of overwhelm and the dread of facing these challenges is too much to bear, especially with no one around who really understands.

We feel we are tossed about by the storms of life and are hanging on by a thread, so to speak. We feel our life has been turned upside down, we have been bumped and bruised and are hurting.

Encouragement From Bible Stories

I love the stories in the Bible where we can turn to for encouragement for today. Jeremiah 18:1-6 (NIV) speaks about the potter and the clay…

This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord: “Go down to the potter’s house, and there I will give you my message. So I went down to the potter’s house, and I saw him working at the wheel. But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it, as seemed best to him. Then the word of the Lord came to me. He said, “Can I not do with you, Israel, as this potter does?” declares the Lord. “Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, Israel.”

Jeremiah 18:1-6 (NIV)

For one moment I want you to think about yourself being the clay – you are being molded by the potter’s hand and maybe you have been marred – maybe you have been tossed and juggled about and have some reshaping to do.

There is Good News…the potter sees your potential!

The potter can see a side of you that you might not even see yourself yet.

The potter knows you have beauty within you.

The potter knows you’re being molded.

The potter knows your outcome,  and it will be worth it all!

By carefully working with the clay, the potter forms it into a beautiful masterpiece. The potter is skilled at the trade and changes the lump of clay, formless at the start, into a beautiful vessel that is unique and beautiful, to be marveled at by many.

Ecouragement For Today! 1

God is the skillful potter in this analogy, as we all know, but so often we tend to think that the potter is just another ordinary skilled tradesman, like us.

But No! Let’s not forget… God is not like the ordinary human potter, but He is the Master Potter, and He can create us into a rare piece, a precious soul that is worth so much more than you or I could imagine.

If you have ever wandered through a gallery filled with beautiful pieces of pottery, hand-crafted by a skilled potter, then you understand the beauty of the potter’s skill. Maybe you even have a piece of pottery in your house from that gallery, but you know the work and the bumps and the shaping that had to happen before this piece was finished. AND…this is nothing in comparison to what God can do in your life.

Even in our brokenness, God sees our potential, our value. In his hands, he holds the broken pieces of our hearts, of our minds, of our thoughts. He knows our desires.

The potter knows that we need encouragement for today 🙂

God knows that you are on a weight loss journey. He is carefully molding you, every day, but he has already given you your body shape, before you were even born. Now as we treat our bodies like a temple, as we choose to put healthy foods into our bodies, we are being molded into the Beautiful Woman Chosen For Greatness that he destined you to be.

You Are Being Molded By God

He is molding us to have more self-control.

He is molding us to have more self-confidence.

He is molding us to love ourselves the way He does.

He is molding us to see that our identity is not on the scale, but in living out the purpose God has for each of us.

He is molding us to see the good in others and to be non-judgemental.

He is molding us to not compare ourselves to others, as this robs our joy.

He is molding us to Love like never before.

He is molding us to take our thoughts captive and to continue to be aware of the kind voice.

He is molding us to be mindful rather than for us to mindlessly overindulge.
